Human Histocompatibility Antigens(HLA) in Bipolar Mood Disorder Patients

Abstract

|
There were many evidences on the association between HLA and various diseases. Also in the psychiatric fields, several studies were performed to identify HLA as a biological marker. In bipolar mood disorder, no HLA association was found.
The authors studied HLA of 17 Korean bipolar disorder patients. The diagnosis was mode according to DSM-III-R. HLA typing was done by using the Terasaki's microcytotoxicity kit and method. the frequencies of HLA were compared with chi-square test
and p
value was corrected to avoid Type I error.
There was no significant association between bipolar disorder and HLA in Korean.
